Wednesday May 14, 2014 FPA of Massachusetts(TM) Annual Conference in Norwood, MA. Economists and investment strategists discuss topics in finance including Eric Rosengren, President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston as a keynote speaker, the author of the “Pursuit of Happyness,” Chris Gardner. Mr. Gardner shared his inspiring story in pursuit of the American dream while struggling with homelessness as a single parent. His passionate and emotional speech gave all audience members a renewed sense of purpose and a poignant start to the day.
Thursday May 16, 2013 FPA of Massachusetts (TM) Annual Meeting Norwood, MA. The all day event covered an array of financial areas including economics, tax planning, medicare issues, and alternative investment strategy topics. The keynote speaker, Dr. Stephanie Kelton, gave a thought-provoking lecture challenging classical macroeconomic theory regarding expansionary monetary policy, budget deficits, and inflation. Her talk reminded us of the misconceptions that can be created from media hype and how politics often gets in the way of prudent long-term economic well-being.

This event was hosted by The Department of Labor Women's Bureau & The Employee Benefits Security Administration at the John F. Kennedy Federal Building in Boston. Participating in the roundtable was Michael L. Davis, Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA). EBSA is committed to educating and assisting the 140 million Americans covered by more than 707,000 private retirement plans, 2.5 million health plans, and similar numbers of other welfare benefit plans holding over $6 trillion in assets; as well as plan sponsors and members of the employee benefits community. Balancing proactive enforcement with compliance assistance, EBSA helps all workers better understand and exercise their rights under the law and, when possible, to recover any benefits to which they may be entitled.
